Optimizing Space with Eco-Efficiency

Envision a corridor that breathes life into transit—a once-dim passageway reborn as a vibrant waiting oasis, where recycled materials and smart seating maximize every meter. M Corridor, Tjep.'s 2021 redesign for Schiphol Airport's Lounge 4 to M Pier connection, transforms a 200-meter stretch into an efficient, sustainable hub for easyJet passengers, blending functionality with green innovation to ease the rush of arrivals.

Recycled Resilience in Every Seat

Focusing on seating optimization, Tjep. reupholstered existing Schiphol chairs with e-leather—sustainable faux leather from industry waste—for durable comfort without new production. Paired with ecological wood from FSC-certified sources, the design creates modular benches and loungers that hug the curved walls, freeing floor space while inviting relaxation amid planters and aerial Dutch landscape phot

From Ambitious Vision to Resilient Reality

Originally conceived pre-COVID as a grand metamorphosis with expansive installations, the project was scaled back amid the pandemic, yet the simplified version—launched in 2021—delivers on efficiency and circularity (see images bellow). It supports Schiphol's zero-waste 2030 goal, with a permanent sustainability exhibition via window stickers, turning transit time into thoughtful pauses.

Tjep.'s Green Thread in Airport Design

Echoing the narrative warmth of Clockwork Love and the transformative forms of Chrysalide, M Corridor showcases Tjep.'s mastery of sustainable flow, where recycled elements craft seamless journeys—proving even corridors can cultivate calm.
