From Tjep.’s Amsterdam studio, Love Heart is a captivating brooch crafted in 2010 by Frank Tjepkema. This piece layers the word "love" in as many diverse fonts as possible, building depth and texture while incorporating graphic elements like cupids, tattoos, hearts, and other romantic motifs. Rendered in 24k gold-plated steel, it transforms typographic variety into a wearable emblem of emotion’s complexity, far removed from mechanical themes.

Inspired by Typographic Diversity

Drawing from the endless forms of written expression, Love Heart celebrates love’s multifaceted interpretations. The overlapping fonts create a rich, visual tapestry, enhanced by whimsical icons that evoke passion and whimsy.

Artistic Innovation: Depth Through Layers

The brooch’s layered construction adds dimension, allowing fonts and graphics to interplay in gold-plated elegance. This technique fuses typography with artistry, inviting closer inspection to reveal hidden details.

A Commentary on Love’s Varied Forms

Love Heart reflects on affection’s diverse expressions, blending script styles with symbolic elements to capture its universal yet personal essence. Aligning with Tjep.’s innovative spirit, it turns words into wearable poetry.

From Tjep.’s visionary atelier, Love Heart offers a golden tribute to love’s endless variations—for the romantically bold.
