Unfold, Tjep.'s visionary collaboration with G3 Spaces in 2017, redefines self-sufficient living: a foldable luxury structure that deploys anywhere, from urban rooftops to desert retreats, offering unparalleled convenience without compromising comfort.
From Compact Crate to Expansive Escape
Unfold starts as a standard shipping container (6m x 3m), engineered with robust steel hinges and automated mechanisms to expand in minutes. The result? A fully finished interior with wooden floors, large windows, and zones for lounging, reception, or even toilets—complete with sustainable features like efficient insulation and modular utilities. "Unfold brings high levels of comfort almost anywhere," Tjepkema notes, turning transit into tranquility.
G3 Spaces Partnership: Practicality Meets Innovation
Partnering with Dutch startup G3 Spaces, Tjep. elevated the prototype showcased in Zaandam, focusing on durability for global tours (like Dubai's sands). This project echoes Tjep.'s ethos of adaptive design, akin to the scalable self-sufficiency of Oogst or the transformative forms of Chrysalide—proving architecture can be as fluid as life itself.
