The equivalent to giving ‘a tap on the back’ in Dutch would be to give one ‘klopjes op de schouder’. This means: to tap somebody on the shoulders.
When Syntens asked us to design the Amsterdam Innovation Award we proposed two golden taps, to be placed on the shoulders of the most innovative person of the year. This reward should not be kept in a dusty cabinet, it should be carried (one on each shoulder!) as a very meaningful piece of jewelery.
